PHILIPPINES – The Cebu Business Month (CBM) 2017 has officially opened, with Information Technology – Business Process Management (IT-BPM) as one of this year’s major thrusts.

During the opening salvo of the week-long celebration, the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) announced that the CBM 2017 will focus on three thrusts – IT-BPM, tourism, and entrepreneurship.

In line with this, a series of activities has been lined up this month to promote the three sectors. A tourism congress, IT-BPM conference, and entrepreneurship summit have been scheduled this June.

The CBM is the annual month-long celebration sponsored by the CCCI, the largest business organization in Cebu.

“CBM always provides the opportunity for everyone to meet and connect with entrepreneurs and prospective business partners. It also provides business owners the opportunity to discuss updates in trade,” said CCCI President Melanie Ng.

Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale also announced during the Cebu Business Month 2017 grand salvo the Provincial Board’s appproval of a resolution sponsored by Member Miguel Magpale. The board, she said, signed “an agreement with CCCI to sustain our strong partnership in order to contribute to the competitiveness of Cebu.”

During the launching of CBM 2017, the CCCI also named internationally acclaimed designer Kenneth Cobonpue as its first brand ambassador.

According to Ng, the organization chose the 48-year old designer because he embodies the vision of the chamber of local entrepreneurs and brands to go global.

“It is our quest that our members, especially our millennials in the local and global ecosystem, can relate to the vision and mission of the chamber,” said Ng, who officially welcomed Cobonpue.

He is Cebuano figure who will represent Cebu to the world, she added. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
