CAVITE, PHILIPPINES – Somebody’s dream to become a multi-millionaire is coming true after a bettor in Cavite hit the Super Lotto 6/49 jackpot on Thursday’s draw, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced.
The lone bettor will be taking home the full Php17.5-million jackpot after his ticket matched that of the winning combination – 13-16-01-22-34-26.
The bettor, who has not claimed the prize yet, has been told to claim the jackpot of Php17,558,412 any tmie on weekdays during office hours.
PCSO General Manager Jose Ferdinand M. Rojas, however, advised the jackpot winner to take care of his ticket so that it will be machine-readable when he claims his prize.
The bettor was also advised to affix his signature at the back of the ticket to ensure that no one will be able to take ownership of the winning ticket.
One lotto jackpot winner in the past had his multi-million winnings vanished into thin air after he ran his ticket under an electric iron to straigthened it out.
The sensitive ticket, however, got burnt and despite the owner’s claim, the PCSO did not release the winning prize.
Another incident also involved one jackpot winner who claimed that a relative stole his winning ticket. The prize was claimed because the claimant had his signature at the back of the ticket.
Unlike in the United States where the identity of lotto winners are revealed, the identities of lotto winners in the Philippines are kept confidential.
Meanwhile, the PCSO said that its combined retail sales receipts from its regular games
(Lotto, Keno and Sweepstakes) in the first quarter of 2015 amounted P8,070,789,690.00 while the income generated from the games Small Town Lottery and Peryahan totaled to P1,195,788,946.00.
For the period January to March 2015, the approved allocation for various health, medical, social services and charity of national character from January to March 2015 was P1,550,058,056.71.
The amount is 19.76% more than P1,295,328,909.80 charity fund disbursed in the first quarter of 2014. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
