Philippines: Converge Teams Up with Volunteers for Tree-Planting, Medical Mission in Pampanga Aeta Community

Converge ICT Solutions Inc. has teamed up with volunteer groups to plant fruit-bearing trees and deliver basic health services to an Aeta community in Angeles City, part of what the company described as a broader sustainability push tied to grassroots outreach.

Converge said volunteers from The Fraternal Order of Eagles – Kandili Chapter and Inner Wheel Club of Taguig joined the company in planting 300 fruit-bearing seedlings in the Sapangbato Watershed, supporting local government reforestation efforts while aiming to strengthen livelihood opportunities for farmers in the community.

After the tree-planting, the groups held a medical mission to bring essential health and dental services directly to residents, Converge said. The Inner Wheel Club of Taguig conducted health education sessions on oral hygiene, provided basic dental care, and distributed hygiene kits.

Converge and the Philippine Eagles also distributed grocery packs, medicines and vitamins, and clothing to families in Sitio Target, Sapangbato, to address immediate needs, the company said.

“This initiative reflects our shared goal of supporting communities in ways that respond to their needs. By working together with other organizations, we were able to do so much for the environment, for the people’s livelihoods, and also in promoting the health and well-being of the community, all in one meaningful effort,” said Jay-Anne Encarnado, Converge vice president and head of corporate communications and public relations.

The outreach builds on an earlier effort in the same area, where Converge employees sowed 1,000 mandarin and coffee seedlings last year as part of its Women’s Month celebration, led by mentors and mentees of its women’s leadership program, Grace Under Pressure: MentorSHE.

Converge said it planted a total of 4,700 seedlings for the watershed in 2025 in partnership with the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of Angeles City, Pampanga.

Corporate sustainability programs in the Philippines are increasingly pairing environmental projects with direct community services, as companies try to show measurable outcomes while aligning with local government priorities such as watershed protection and public health access in marginalized communities.
