On April 17, the 2026 Encounter China Dialogue on Civilization Exchange was held at the China Cultural Center in Paris, bringing together researchers, scholars and cultural representatives from China and France to discuss opportunities for strengthening cross-cultural communication. During the event, the Academy of Contemporary China and World Studies (ACCWS) and Les Amis de Wu Jianmin presented the findings of a joint research report examining the dissemination and reception of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China V among French cultural communities.
The report analyzed how the book has been introduced and discussed in France, with a focus on cultural communication, academic exchanges and perspectives from French cultural representatives. More than 50 experts and scholars participated in discussions on the report, exploring topics including cultural dialogue between China and France, the role of technology in international communication, and future opportunities for mutual understanding between different cultural communities.
During the event, ACCWS provided an overview of the book’s structure, publication background and international distribution. According to the organization, Xi Jinping: The Governance of China V presents discussions on China’s governance practices, social development approaches and policy considerations, offering overseas readers a perspective on contemporary China’s development and transformation.
Les Amis de Wu Jianmin introduced the research scope and key observations of the report. According to the findings, participants examined topics related to cultural development, technological innovation and emerging forms of productivity, with particular attention to how these issues intersect with global discussions on artificial intelligence, creativity and cultural exchange.
The report highlighted that China-France cultural exchanges have developed through long-term academic, artistic and people-to-people interactions. It also examined how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, may create new opportunities for international communication by improving accessibility, expanding digital cultural exchanges and reducing language barriers.
Researchers participating in the dialogue discussed how rapid technological advancement is reshaping cultural creation and communication. They noted that while artificial intelligence can provide new tools for translation, content creation and cross-border interaction, human creativity, cultural diversity and individual perspectives remain important elements in shaping meaningful cultural exchanges.
The event also explored potential areas for future cooperation between Chinese and French cultural communities, including the use of digital technologies to expand cultural engagement, the development of new approaches combining technology and cultural innovation, and the exploration of more effective channels for international dialogue.
The 2026 “Encounter China” Dialogue on Civilization Exchange provided a platform for scholars and cultural representatives from both countries to exchange views on cultural communication, technological development and international cooperation. Organizers said future discussions will continue to focus on strengthening academic exchanges and exploring new opportunities for mutual learning between China and France.
