CITIC Telecom International CPC Limited has acquired the remaining floors of CITIC Telecom Tower as part of its efforts to push full-speed ahead in the expansion into the data centre market.
CITIC Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited, said the acquisition of CITIC Telecom Tower is the major driver in its thrust and the encouraging progress achieved is set to support CITIC Telecom in its efforts to capture the immense opportunities in the cloud computing service and data centre market.
CITIC Telecom Tower located in Kwai Chung enjoys geographical advantages. It is also the second Hong Kong Internet eXchange (HKIX2) which interconnects with multiple Tier-1 carriers. The completion of the acquisition of the remaining floors of CITIC Telecom Tower by CITIC Telecom will add 10 floors to the data centre coverage and increase the total number of racks to more than 4,000 within the over-340,000 sq.ft. building, thus creating greater opportunities for further business development.
Construction of the expansion work of the first phase is set to commence immediately after the acquisition is completed with scheduled completion during 2018. The number of racks of CITIC Telecom CPC in CITIC Telecom Tower would then be doubled, which will complement the company’s all-round business development.
