CITIC Telecom International CPC Limited has acquired the remaining floors of CITIC Telecom Tower as part of its efforts to push full-speed ahead in the expansion into the data centre market.

CITIC Telecom, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CITIC Telecom International Holdings Limited, said the acquisition of CITIC Telecom Tower is the major driver in its thrust and the encouraging progress achieved is set to support CITIC Telecom in its efforts to capture the immense opportunities in the cloud computing service and data centre market.

CITIC Telecom Tower located in Kwai Chung enjoys geographical advantages. It is also the second Hong Kong Internet eXchange (HKIX2) which interconnects with multiple Tier-1 carriers. Thus local and multinational enterprises alike can grow their businesses leveraging CITIC Telecom’s seamless global telecommunications ecosystem.

The completion of the acquisition of the remaining floors of CITIC Telecom Tower by CITIC Telecom will add 10 floors to the data centre coverage and increase the total number of racks to more than 4,000 within the over-340,000 sq.ft. building, thus creating greater opportunities for further business development.

Construction of the expansion work of the first phase is set to commence immediately after the acquisition is completed with scheduled completion during 2018. The number of racks of CITIC Telecom CPC in CITIC Telecom Tower would then be doubled, which will complement the company’s all-round business development.

“The acquisition of the remaining floors of CITIC Telecom Tower will bolster the development of our cloud data centre business. We have been striving to strengthen our ICT solutions and our goal is to achieve expansion in network coverage, information security, diversification in cloud computing services and expansion of our cloud data centre. The scale of our cloud data centre in CITIC Telecom Tower will double after the completion of the first phase of the new data centre construction work,” said Stephen Ho, CEO of CITIC Telecom CPC.

Ho added: “Together with our more than 100 global points-of-presence, 11 cloud service centres, 27 cloud data centres and the acquisition of the telecommunication business of Linx Telecommunications earlier this year with network coverage in Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the ‘One Belt One Road’ countries, we are set to build a stronger leadership position in the global market.”

Providing innovative technologies, safe and high quality services is the key to success for ICT solution providers. As a most trusted one-stop ICT solution partner, CITIC Telecom CPC has not only launched a wide range of cloud computing services, but has also actively expanded the coverage of its cloud data centre and provided full support to enterprises informationization and digitalization for deploying business applications in the cloud service platform.

CITIC Telecom CPC has realised rapid growth in its cloud computing services and cloud data centre businesses in the past few years. The approval of the resolution in relation to the acquisition of the remaining floors of CITIC Telecom Tower by The Group can strongly spur the development of the cloud computing business. It also enables The Group to meet market demand and align with its business development decision.

“Looking ahead, we will strengthen our capabilities in the innovative information and communications arena including big data analytics, IOT, network functions virtualisation (NFV) and software defined everything (SDX). We will also assist enterprise customers in broadening their global business presence through utilising our world-class network facilities, solutions and services,” Ho said. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
