Globe has emerged as the only telco to win the prestigious 5 Golden Arrow Award from the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD) at the recently concluded 2022 Golden Arrow awards ceremony.

It is the first such award for Globe, cementing its standing as a top-performing publicly listed company in the Philippines under the 2021 ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS). Globe is among three awardees.

The recognition is reflective of Globe’s score between 120 and 130 points in the ACGS Assessment, the highest level of performance set forth by the ICD. The Golden Arrow is presented to companies that achieve a score of at least 80 points out of a possible 130 points wherein each ascending level is depicted by an increase in the number of golden arrows.

“We are honored and grateful to receive the highly-coveted 5 Golden Arrow Award as a testament to our efforts in upholding strong corporate governance practices and standards across Globe alongside the dynamic demands of the business. Our strategic position in the industry as a leading telco drives us to continue creating and sustaining value for all our stakeholders,” said Globe Group President and CEO Ernest Cu.

ACGS is a joint initiative between the ASEAN Capital Markets Forum (ACMF) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) that aims to promote corporate governance excellence and integration within the ASEAN region as an investment destination.

The organization assesses key corporate governance principles such as the rights and equitable treatment of shareholders, the role of stakeholders, disclosure and transparency, and the responsibilities of the board.

The scorecard provides a comprehensive evaluation of a company’s corporate governance practices to identify areas for improvement.

“What started out as compliance with rules and regulations has evolved into a cross-functional advocacy in the organization that continues to fuel and enable our business at Globe. We are happy that all our Ka-Globe are onboard with us in our corporate governance journey, and are elated that our stakeholders feel the impact and recognize the value that corporate governance brings to our business,” said Marisalve Ciocson-Co, Globe Chief Compliance Officer, SVP – Law and Compliance, and Assistant Corporate Secretary.

Globe is committed to upholding strong corporate governance practices and standards and continues to create and sustain value for all stakeholders. As a leading digital solutions platform, it is dedicated to shaping society’s sustainable future through its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

Due to its sustainability efforts, Globe has been included in the FTSE4Good Index Series for seven consecutive years and received an “A” rating from MSCI ESG. Additionally, it has been recognized as the Best Corporate Governance in the Telecom – Asia category for two consecutive years by the Ethical Boardroom Corporate Governance Awards. Globe was also honored as one of the Top 3 Philippine Publicly Listed Companies, ASEAN Top 20, and ASEAN Asset Class – Philippines at the recent ACGS ASEAN Awards ceremony.
