EQT launches EQT Nexus strategy to broaden investor base

EQT has unveiled EQT Nexus, a unique semi-liquid strategy designed to extend its investor base.

For the first time in its history, EQT will allow individual investors to explore its wide array of strategies through a single investment.

EQT Nexus is a diversified global portfolio investing across the spectrum of EQT’s strategies, from mature buyouts to early-stage ventures across various sectors and regions.

The focus will primarily be on EQT’s flagship Private Equity and Infrastructure strategies. Moreover, the strategy will co-invest alongside EQT’s funds in companies.

The EQT Nexus Advisory team will be spearheaded by William Vettorato, the newly appointed Advisory Head of Fund Strategy, who brings his experience from Partners Group where he managed a similar global semi-liquid strategy.

Vettorato joins a global advisory team responsible for EQT’s Private Wealth efforts, led by Partner Peter Beske Nielsen.

EQT’s introduction of Nexus is timely, given the current trend of institutional investors considerably outpacing individual investors in private market allocations.

Historically, institutional investors have enjoyed better access, less liquidity requirements, and fewer regulatory restrictions. However, this landscape is evolving, with individual investors’ allocations to private markets projected to surge by 12% annually over the next decade.

EQT envisages that innovative products like EQT Nexus, designed to overcome the hurdles faced by individuals investing in private markets, will expedite this shift.

“With EQT Nexus, we’re thrilled to extend the opportunity to individual investors to benefit from EQT’s consistent performance-driven approach. Our expansion in Private Wealth is a crucial priority, and with a dedicated team of about 50 personnel, EQT Nexus represents a significant milestone in this journey,” Suzanne Donohoe, Chief Commercial Officer at EQT, shared.

Gustav Segerberg, Head of Business Development at EQT, added, “Previously, individual investors seeking to access private markets faced several entry barriers, including high investment minimums, lengthy lock-up periods, and intricate investment terms. EQT Nexus addresses these issues by offering access to EQT’s strategies through a single, fully-funded investment with a straightforward fee structure. We’ve been gearing up for this launch for quite some time, making prior commitments to EQT funds and selected co-investments to ensure EQT Nexus begins with a robust portfolio, and we’re excited about the future of this strategy.” – BusinessNewsAsia.com
