Southeast Asian insurtech startup, PasarPolis, has appointed industry titan, Peter Van Zyl, as its new President. The former Director and CEO of Allianz Indonesia, Van Zyl is set to harness his extensive expertise and leadership to further the firm’s mission of democratizing insurance.

The significant appointment comes as PasarPolis transitions to a full-stack insurtech company, having recently partnered with Tap Insure.

This collaboration has empowered PasarPolis to underwrite and distribute its insurance products, a strategic evolution that Van Zyl’s appointment is set to bolster.

“PasarPolis welcomes Peter Van Zyl to our team,” announced Cleosent Randing, CEO of PasarPolis. “His leadership and industry experience will be pivotal as we continue to innovate and disrupt the insurance landscape.”

Peter Van Zyl’s illustrious career includes a seven-year tenure as the CEO of Allianz Indonesia and a 15-year spell in several senior roles at AIG. Notably, the respected Indonesian media outlet, Warta Ekonomi, bestowed upon him the title of ‘Best Foreign CEO’ for four consecutive years.

Speaking on his appointment, Van Zyl commented, “In this digital age, we have a unique chance to democratize insurance, making it accessible to all market segments, and I’m thrilled to contribute to this mission.”

His arrival comes at a crucial juncture as PasarPolis seeks to expand its operations in Thailand and Vietnam. With plans to engage directly with team members and agents, Van Zyl’s appointment signals exciting developments for the insurtech company.
