Manulife Investment Management today announced the appointment of Kenny Lam to the position of Chief Investment Officer and Head of Transactions, Asia Pacific Real Estate, effective as of October 4, 2023.

In his new role, Kenny will be responsible for expanding the team’s geographical footprint in Asia Pacific, managing Manulife Investment Management’s real estate portfolio, identifying and investing in new real estate investment opportunities.

“We are pleased to welcome Kenny back to our team, and we look forward to his contributions in the continuous growth of our Asia Pacific real estate business. Kenny will play a key role in expanding our investment offerings in Asia, a market of enormous importance in our global real estate growth strategy,” said Marc Feliciano, Global Head of Real Estate, Private Markets, Manulife Investment Management, whom Kenny will report into.

Kenny first joined Manulife Investment Management in 2017 as Head of Asia Real Estate Investments, after which he took on the role of Chief Investment Officer (Strategic Investment) at Link REIT in 2022.

“I am delighted to rejoin the firm and contribute to the transformation of the Manulife Investment Management real estate platform to help investors achieve their long-term financial objectives. Through the expansion of the team, we look forward to bringing new solutions that better leverage our global capabilities in capturing market opportunities and meeting clients’ evolving needs. Asia Pacific possesses significant opportunities in the private real estate market, given the rapid business and demographic evolutions in the region, and could generate the types of long-term values that our clients would expect from an international investment manager,” said Kenny Lam, Chief Investment Officer and Head of Transactions, Asia Pacific Real Estate, Manulife Investment Management.

During his previous tenure at Manulife Investment Management, Kenny led the team in making key transactions across Asia Pacific, including the establishment of a joint venture with Kenedix in 2022 to pursue multifamily assets in Japan, the joint acquisition of an 11-hectare logistics facility in Greater Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam with LOGOS in 2022, the purchase of 39 Martin Place Sydney in Australia in partnership with Investa Commercial Property Fund in 2021, and the acquisition of Cityplaza One in Hong Kong together with a consortium of investors in 2020.

Manulife Investment Management’s real estate platform provides investment solutions globally as part of its comprehensive private markets’ capabilities. As of June 30, 2023, its sustainably operated platform offers core, core-plus, and value-add strategies spanning over 73 million square feet of office, industrial, retail, and multifamily assets strategically across Canada, the U.S., and Asia Pacific. The real estate investment team leverages its global platform and regional market knowledge to identify opportunities and aim to drive results for its investment clients.
