CEBU, Philippines – The renowned Italian restaurant Cibo inaugurated its first branch in Cebu at SM Seaside City on December 15.

This marks the popular restaurant’s debut in the Queen City of the South, bringing its unique blend of authentic and modern Italian cuisine to a new audience.

Founded by the celebrated Filipino Chef Margarita Araneta Fores, Cibo’s journey began in 1997 following Fores’ extensive culinary training in Italy under the guidance of three Italian signoras.

Her passion for Italian cuisine and experience in the bustling cities of Milan and Rome inspired the creation of Cibo, a modern Italian caffe-paninoteca that combines traditional flavors with contemporary dining concepts.

“I had been catering since 1987 starting very small, building the catering business for nearly 10 years, but in 1997 I was very ready to finally open a restaurant. And I was very clear, I wanted to do a simple Italian café to be situated in the malls in Metro Manila, and I was very clear also that I wanted to share the concept of modern Italian café culture that I learned from spending time in Rome and in Milano. Cibo means food, so I wanted it to be simple crisp concept sharing very authentic but modern Italian food”, said Chef Flores in an audio-visual presentation.

Additionally, it features Chef Margarita’s Mains, an assortment of specialty dishes, alongside a variety of sodas, juices, shakes, coffee, and desserts.

This extensive array caters to a wide range of palates, ensuring an immersive Italian dining experience for guests.

The new Cibo branch is conveniently located at the upper ground level, Seaview Wing of SM Seaside City Cebu, inviting locals and visitors to indulge in an authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of the city.

This expansion is a testament to Cibo’s growing popularity and commitment to bringing high-quality Italian cuisine to food enthusiasts across the Philippines.
