Ulleung County Office in South Korea Deploys Acronis Backup Advanced In a Remote Island Location

SINGAPORE — Acronis®, a global leader in new generation data protection, today announced that Ulleung County Office, situated in a remote island in the North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, 120 km east of the Korean Peninsula in the Sea of Japan, implemented Acronis data protection technology across their entire IT infrastructure, increasing infrastructure resilience to data loss and reducing dependence on mainland technical support services.

Because of the remote location, prompt technical support services are not readily available to the Ulleung County Office, and historically data loss and system failure incidents resulted in prolonged downtime periods, halting the most administrative, welfare and education services provided to the county’s residents.

The downtime also affected the infrastructure functionality supporting the islands’ sustainable development, tourism, agriculture and fisheries services.

Ulleung County Office selected Acronis Backup Advanced with the Universal License, enabling them to cover the entire range of IT hardware and software, including VMware-powered hybrid environment, and to respond to changing data protection needs quickly and easily — without the extra costs.

Acronis Backup Advanced with Universal License provides a high level of scalability and compatibility, supporting most physical and virtual environments running Windows and Linux operating systems, under one license.

Powered by the AnyData Engine, Acronis solutions are lean, modular, secure and scalable. Image-based backups quickly capture and store all data in a universal backup format allowing cross-compatibility and recovery to any hardware or virtual machine.

Ulleung County Office said that adoption of Acronis solutions resulted in greater data protection, and lead to higher system performance.

“The adoption of Acronis backup solution has helped us address the challenge of managing servers and IT infrastructure from different vendors. Now we can back up and manage our systems, servers and data, including virtual environment, from a centralized location for higher efficiency,” said County official. “In addition, the solution’s intuitive dashboard allows for easy use and maintenance while enabling higher backup and recovery performance, which contributes to more stable operation of our office’s IT infrastructure.”

“Acronis understands the challenges presented by customers’ hybrid environments and offers highly optimized and customized services to provide full protection for their systems and data. We will continue to provide full technical support and remote maintenance services to Ulleung County Office, empowering them to operate a stable and functional system and deal with any data loss incidents that may occur,” said Acronis’ Vice President of Sales for Asia-Pacific & Emerging Markets, Steve Goh. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
