SINGAPORE – Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has officially launched the country’s new Police Operations Command Center (POCC), which will serve as the new nerve center of the Singapore Police Force.

Prime Minister Le said POCC will monitor big and small events in the country, including taking 999 calls, and then coordinates the police response to them.

“Our Police Officers don’t carry little black notebooks around anymore . They use IT and 3G comms, and are linked to the Police Operations Command Centre (POCC),” said Lee in his Facebook page.

At the center, Lee and Deputy Prime Minster and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean saw the new camera police officers will wear on duty.

They also saw officers monitoring CCTVs at Clarke Quay and Orchard Towers “so that the police can respond quickly to any incident”.

“After opening the POCC today, I spoke to some of the officers (like Yus and Nicholas) who worked so hard to manage the huge crowds during the recent state funeral. Deeply appreciate their efforts to keep Singapore safe,” he said. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
