PHILIPPINES – Three minors died in separate incidents of drowning in the rivers of Sigay and Tagudin Ilocos Sur on Black Saturday, authorities here said.

A 14-year-old boy and his 12-year-old brother drowned in the river off Sitio Namatingan, Barangay Sto. Rosario, Sigay when they went swimming without adult supervision.

The victims, identified as Winky Bello, 14, and his brother Wendy, 12, asked permission from their parents to go to the nearby river for a swim. The family was visiting a relative in the area, the police said.

When the two boys failed to come back afer a few hours in the river, their family started to worry. Family members who went to the river to check saw the floating bodies of the two boys.

They were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

In another incident on Black Saturday, a 4-year-old boy drowned while washing his hands in the Amburayan River, Barangay Bio, Tagudin.

Aaron James Munoz and his family were having picnic near the river when the boy asked his parents permission to go to the river bank to wash his hands.

The boy, however, lost his balance and fell into the water. He was rushed to the hospital but was also declared dead on arrival. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
