HONG KONG – The development of Hong Kong’s jewelry industry has been facilitated by the expansion of the local market, including sales to tourists. In terms of value, 86.5% of Hong Kong’s total exports of jewelry are made of precious material.

Thailand, as being as the jewelry hub among ASEAN countries, is currently ranking on 8th for Hong Kong’s total import of jewelry & pearls, accounting 2.6% of the total market share.

It is also the only ASEAN country included as the top 10 countries of Importation by Hong Kong.

As of Jun – Jul 2016, Hong Kong had imported approximately USD490Millions jewelry from Thailand, including pearls, precious/semi-precious stones (84.9%), articles of jewelry (15%) and articles of pearls, precious/semi-precious stones (0.1%), etc. , showing a 11.8% positive growth in compare to the same period last year.

Due to this encouraging reason, The Department of Int’l Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce of the Royal Thai Government wishes to blossom this industry via organizing Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair (BGJF).

BGJF is a bi-yearly event happening in February and September each year. The 59th BGJF will be held during 22-26 February 2017. As before, the Royal Thai Government shall dedicate their best to serve all participants with diversity, such as “0” VAT, business matching activities, etc.

The 58th BGJF ended successfully by drawing more than 2,200 exhibitor booths from worldwide, include Thailand (local), China, Iran, Taiwan, Poland, India, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Japan, Turkey and Italy, etc.

Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA) had led 42 booths from HKSAR to exhibit at the 58,500 square meter venue. This Fair had attracted buyers from all over the world, top 10 visiting countries are India, Myanmar, China, the United States, Sri Lanka, Australia, Iran, Japan, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
