Senior appointment part of regional expansion by communications group

KUALA LUMPUR — The WeR1 group, with offices in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong handling boutique PR and investor relations services, has named Mr Justin Then as Managing Director and equity partner of its Malaysian operations, WeR1 Communications Sdn. Bhd.

A notable PR practitioner, Mr Then was previously Managing Director at Hill+Knowlton Strategies Malaysia, where he headed up the local operations of the global PR firm for over three years. He was credited with delivering consistent growth and profitability during his tenure, as well as enhancing the company’s portfolio of clients.

He was instrumental in securing accounts and providing senior counsel to C-level executives from diverse sectors including oil and gas, quick service restaurants, technology and financial services at Hill+Knowlton. Prior to that, Mr Then led the Technology Practice at Priority Communications Sdn. Bhd. where he oversaw various accounts including Dell, Intel, Microsoft, Hitachi Data Systems, and Alcatel Lucent.

Mr Lai Kwok Kin, WeR1’s Founder, said: “We are elated that Justin, who has more than two decades of experience in media, public relations, stakeholder management, and crisis and corporate communications, has decided to join the WeR1 group. I am confident that he will lead the Kuala Lumpur consultancy to deliver first-class, purposeful communications strategy to our clients in Malaysia and the region.”

“WeR1 has a strong track record in investor relations and tech PR over 18 years. With offices in Singapore and Hong Kong, I look forward to extending this success to Malaysia. I’m honoured to be entrusted to spearhead the Malaysian office, and be a part of WeR1’s expansion in the region. Kwok Kin has built a solid team and I hope to contribute to the company’s growth in Malaysia and beyond,” said Mr Then.
