Cebuanos can expect a night of cultural immersion and fun-filled activities as the highly-anticipated Gabii sa Kabilin (GSK) returns on May 12, 2023.

After the success of GSK in October 2022, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better, with new museum partners, exhibits, and elevated improvements on the GSK night.

From 6 PM to midnight, 22 partner museums and heritage sites located in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Talisay will open their doors for guests to enjoy indoor and outdoor exhibits, cultural presentations, children’s activities, contests with cash prizes, food bazaars, outdoor exhibits, and other activities all in one night.

Guests can choose to walk or ride buses, or take a tartanilla (horse-drawn carriage) based on the type of ticket purchased.

The theme of this year’s GSK is “Pagpanag-iya (Owning our Story)” which commemorates the upcoming 125th anniversary of Philippine Independence.

GSK plans to showcase how Filipinos were able to manipulate the trappings of colonialism to serve their interests as a people, and how they asserted their right to tell their story.

Tickets for GSK 2023 are limited, and there are two types of tickets available. Tickets with bus rides and one free tartanilla ride are priced at P300, while tickets without bus rides are priced at P200.

Senior citizens, PWDs, and students with ID can avail of a P20 discount, and children under 7 years old can access the sites for free as long as they are accompanied by one adult GSK ticketholder.

Participants can also join the highly anticipated GSK Heritage Hunt and other contests such as the Vlogging, Phonography, and Photo Story Contests. Registration for the contests is ongoing.

This year’s GSK will also see the addition of the University of San Jose-Recoletos and Freedom Park as partner-sites, as well as the inclusion of outdoor exhibits to enhance the experience.

GSK 2023 is supported by the Cebu City Government, Talisay City Government, Lapu-Lapu City Government, Philippine National Police, Inter-Agency Task Force for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Cebu City Traffic Office, Cebu City Cultural and Historical Affairs Commission (CHAC), and the Cebu Chapter of the Radio Emergency Assistance Volunteer Organization (REAVO).

To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, GSK 2023 will follow strict health and safety guidelines.

Only ticketholders with GSK tickets are allowed to ride the bus and tartanilla, and participants must register to join specific contests. Everyone is required to wear a face mask, observe physical distancing, refrain from touching surfaces and museum displays, and sanitize regularly. – BusinessNewsAsia.com
