Hong Kong-based Chinese medicine firm PuraPharm Corporation Limited has announced its acquisition of K’An Herb Company, a company engaged in manufacturing of herbal formulas in the US. Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturing giant Foxconn has officially started construction of its US$8.8 billion liquid-crystal display (LCD) plant in China’s Guangzhou City. The US$8.8 billion investment is just for the first phase of the plant, according to reporters. The plant, which covers an area of about 1.5 square kilometer, is designed to manufacture 10.5-generation 8K displays, smart TVs and electronic whiteboards, among others. Malaysian lender RHB Bank saw its net earnings for the fourth quarter of 2016 falling 28.1 percent to MYR261.24 million (US$58.77 million) from the previous quarter’s MYR363.37 million. SOUTH KOREA – South Korean companies committed 185 violations in disclosure policies last year, up from the 126 cases registered in 2015, the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) said. Last year, the FSS imposed KRW2.2 billion (US$1.9 million) in fines to firms involved in 63 cases.
